To generate awareness about various welfare services meant for girl child and women, army on Thursday organised an awareness lecture on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Government High School, Harni in Poonch District. “The event was organised to bring awareness among the members of society to include youth and school children about importance of girl child, their education and rights,” PRO Defence, Lt Col Devender Anand said. The lecture elaborated on the condition of the women in our society, especially in remote areas in spite of the development and progress in our country. The speaker highlighted the inequality, lack of opportunity and ill treatment of women in various parts of the country. The speaker also brought out the need to save the girl child as imbalance in the male to female ratio is causing problems in the society which needs to be addressed on priority.
