Bhagwah Tehsil of Doda District is plagued by frequent traffic accidents in which precious lives are lost. Most of the accidents occur due to poor traffic awareness and ignorance of traffic rules. The awareness drive was focused specifically to target the two wheeler and four wheeler drivers and the pedestrians in general by making them conscious towards road safety & traffic rules. 15 Taxi/ Bus drivers, 06 two wheeler drivers and 45 Civilians were educated on road discipline, traffic regulations and the importance of civic sense to be adhered while driving. Drivers were also sensitised on ill effects of alcohol & drug abuse. Emphasis was also laid on importance of regular maintenance of vehicles and road worthiness. On the spot sensitization of drivers plying on the road was done by the soldiers with various informative & motivational pamphlets. Drivers Association, Bhagwah and local administration whole heartedly appreciated the efforts of Army in spreading traffic awareness and the general public was also grateful for this initiative to promote road safety.
