JK Public School, Kunjwani feels proud to share that it is “The School with a Difference” by winning British Council International School Award (ISA) by Neil Sarkar, Deputy Teaching Centre Manager British Council India and is accredited for the period 2019-2022. The British Council, the UK’s International Organisation for Cultural Relations and Educational Opportunities, hosted the ISA ceremony at The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, Delhi, on December 6, 2019. Shashi Chaudhary, Director JK Educational Society and Harneet Kour, ISA Co-ordinator attended the ceremony and received the award on behalf of the institution. It’s inspiring to see the hard work and creative ideas of teachers and students led by school leaders to create internationalism and collaboration in their schools. Through this globally recognised accreditation, the British Council demonstrates our commitment for preparing students to become contributing global citizens and leaders. We need to shift focus on value-oriented experiential learning, from the traditional emphasis on academics and one way communication in schools. I am very pleased to see so many participants and hope to see more in the future. The British Council International School Award (ISA), which has a presence in 31 countries, is a benchmarking scheme that accredits schools with an outstanding level of support for nurturing global citizenship in young people and enriching teaching and learning. The ISA supports this purpose by encouraging opportunities for international learning and recognizing and celebrating the achievements of educational institutions that create them. ISA is a recognition and celebration of exemplary practices of internationalism in schools – in both the curriculum and values held by students and teachers. The ISA network allows schools, teachers and students to network with likeminded schools across country and exchange new ideas and effective practices. Students learn to develop a global outlook, preparing them for life and work in a global economy. Teachers, involved in the ISA journey were Purnima, Tina, Cherry, Sumeet Ranayal, Pooja Nehru, Simranjeet, Rishiv Prabhakar, Joginder, Sanjeev and Prem. Shashi Chaudhary, Director, felicitated the team in the morning assembly for such an exemplary achievement She also congratulated Deepti Joshi, School Co-ordinator, for her guidance. The ISA is a global accreditation scheme recognising good practice in incorporating international dimension in schools. Successful schools are accredited for three years. In addition, a panel discussion on ‘How to prepare students for an uncertain future’ was there which was later followed by display of ISA projects, distribution of awards and citation to appreciate ISA activities.
