Excise Commissioner visits Toll Post Lakhanpur; reviews functioning

The Excise Commissioner, M Raju on Tuesday visited Toll Post Lakhanpur and took stock of its functioning. During his visit, the Excise Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Excise staff for foiling a major bid of toll evasion and enjoined upon them to work with more zeal. On the strict instructions of Excise Commissioner, a week-long drive was conducted by the Excise Officers/Officials of toll post Lakhanpur by laying Nakkas at Gandyal, Peer Baba, Kote Punnu, Raj Bagh, Nagri, Mandi etc. During the drive, six vehicles were apprehended while evading toll tax including a vehicle bearing registration No JK17-2828 loaded with 14.50 quintal chicken. A penalty tuning of Rs 1,46,080 was imposed on the defaulter and realised on the spot. The other vehicles, bearing registration numbers JK08D-4084, JK02AA-3037, JK08E2845, JK-08B-0278 and a trolley without number (AF), all loaded with cement, were apprehended and an penalty amounting to Rs 2,14,970 was imposed and realised on the spot. The whole operation was conducted under the direct supervision of Sandeep Gupta, Excise & Taxation Officer and carried out by Inspector Bilal Kraipak, Sudhir Sharma Dheeraj Kumar, Mohammad Saleem Malik, Sub-Inspectors, Kanwaljeet Shan, Milan Gupta, Ravinder, Subash Chander and Manzoor Chalkoo; Excise Guards Rajesh Kumar and Om Dutt, Khadam Hussain, Prince Sharma and Davinder Singh Head Guard. The whole operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Pardeep Singh Manhas, Deputy Excise Commissioner, Toll Post Lakhanpur.
