A Police Sub Inspector was killed while three people including a teenager girl were injured after a rashly driven Maruti car hit them near Dream Land Park road here Wednesday evening. The car fled after the accident and the person driving it has not been identified yet. However police said it has traced the car bearing registration number JK02 CC1221 and it will soon identify the driver and other people traveling in it. The deceased SI has been identified as Kuldeep Raj 59, son of Chuni Lal of village Khorod , Kathua. He was posted in PTC Kathua. The SI was traveling on his bike when the car hit him resulting in his on spot death. The car also hit another bike and a cycle resulting in the serious injuries to two bikers and a teenager girl who was traveling on cycle. The injured were identified as Rajinder Singh,62 of Jandi presently at Ward 3 Kathua. He is a retired employee of Kathua Municipality and Sumit, 31, son of Bishember Dass of Mirpur Rajbagh. Both of them were travelling on the bike. A teenager girl identified as Ragbi, 15, daughter of Arvind of Shivpuri Kathua who was traveling on cycle also sustained injuries. Both Rajinder and Sumit were referred to GMC Jammu after giving first aid at DH Kathua while Ragbi is under going treatment at D H Kathua. The body of deceased SI has been kept in mortuary of DH Kathua for postmortem and it will be handed over to family members tomorrow after completion of legal formalities. The Kathua police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law and started manhunt to arrest the car borne youth. The people of Kathua town while expressing their concern over the accident alleged that there is no check on violation of traffic rules as the Traffic Police never bothers to act against the violators of rules and those who drive the vehicles under the influence of liquor and drugs.
