Amid dearth of teaching staff in government schools across Rajouri, especially in Khawas, Peeri, Moughla and Kotranka zones, a number of government teachers and regularized Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers have been posted in offices of the Education department, including zonal education offices and chief education office.

Highly placed sources told Greater Kashmir, “In all fifteen education zonal offices across the district, teachers have been attached on both official and unofficial basis. These teachers are performing clerical works.” They said, “Majority of such teachers are drawing their salaries from posts of different schools, even after serving in offices. Such officials even remain immune to multiple detachment orders issued by the authorities.”

Citing examples, sources said, “Five teachers are attached in district chief education office Rajouri, two in zonal education office Baljarallan and two in Kalakote education zone office. Some of these teachers are serving in these offices from years together.”

Meanwhile, the Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers Forum has called for detachment of all teachers attached in offices of the department. In a press statement, district president of ReTTF, Aftab Tantray, said, “Many blue eyed and influential teachers are attached in offices making them skip their teaching job. They enjoy being attached in offices, while the district suffers through dearth of teachers.”

He said, “Dozens of teachers are performing clerical work in offices, which is a cause of concern and higher authorities should take note of it.”
