At least 44 more persons were picked up by the security forces from south Kashmir’s poll bound districts of Pulwama and Shopian on Wednesday night.
Reports said that the forces during various night raids picked up 38 persons from Tahab and Chewakalan villages of Pulwama. A police official at Shopian said that the forces raided Vehil and Narwah villages of the district and detained six persons.
The arrestees were lodged in a holding cell at Police station Shopian, the official said.
He, however, did not divulge the reason behind these arrests.
More than three dozen youth have been detained by the forces since last week during various night raids in the twin south Kashmir districts.
Both the districts are scheduled to go to polls on May 6 during the last leg of three-phased elections for the Anantnag Lok Sabha seat.
