At a place where land is precious due to hilly terrain, two residents of Faqir Gujri volunteered to provide land for educational institutions years back on assurance of compensation, but till date both the Gujjar families have been deprived of it due to official apathy.
It was in 2012 when 50-year-old Abdul Rasheed Phamda son of Noor Muhammad Phamda volunteered to provide land for the school but on assurance that his son Munir Phamda would be given job or compensation for one kanal of land on roadside.“Till date, despite repeated applications to director education and deputy commissioner offices no compensation or job has been provided and my family of five daughters and two sons continue to suffer,” said Rasheed Phamda, who has hardly any land available for the family.
According to Phamda, for three years when the building was being constructed, he provided rooms for the primary school at Gulkhan Mohalla Faqir Gujri and till date no rent has been paid to him.
“The cost of one kanal of land on road is Rs 15 lakh and not a single penny or job has been given as promised by then MP or authorities,” said Phamda.Phamda said that the primary school at Gulkhan Mohalla is also accommodating 60 students of nearby Brandkaen mohalla where no land was provided by the residents there.

Similar case of depriving compensation in lieu of land is of Noor din Lali son of Alaam din Lali who provided three and half kanal of land to government in front of then MP in 2008 on assurance of job or compensation for the land which costs Rs 15 lakhs.

“I have three building for middle school Faqir Gujri and no house to reside for family of four girls and three boys. We do stay in one of the rooms of the school as I was promised job in 2008 and now even my age has gone up while there is no end to my miseries,” said Noor din Lali.

Lali and Phamda have appealed deputy commissioner Srinagar to intervene in providing compensation as their families are suffering since years.
