Covid-19: Work suspended on world’s highest railway bridge

Authorities have suspended work on the world’s highest railway bridge in Reasi district. An official said the work was stopped in view of emerging situation due to Coronovirus and restriction on assembly of people. “The work will remain suspended from today till further order,” said the official. Meanwhile, police have registered 12 cases against in Jammu against those who defied restrictions, and seized 56 vehicles. Many roads and streets in Jammu were blocked by police and paramilitary forces with barbed wire to prevent people’s movement. At some places like Dogra Chowk here police faced had tough time to convince people to return to their homes. In Udhampur, the Deputy Commissioner, Piyush Singla sought help from volunteers to help administration in quarantine centers. “Those in age group of 18-30 years who wish to volunteer in effort by administration can submit their details,” reads an appeal issued by the DC. Police personnel were also seen marking circles outside shops of essential commodities to advise people to maintain social distance while buying essentials or withdrawing cash from ATMs.
